Portable HEPA Filter Adapter

for PureZone Mini Air Filter

View on Printables

Motivation to Design:

This was my first attempt at creating a pseudo-fume hood for 3D printing, but the HEPA filter I selected was not powerful enough to prevent fumes from escaping the enclosure. I have since designed an adapter for a higher flow-rate HEPA filter that works much better.

Design Goals:

  1. Replace the outlet of the existing HEPA filter.

  2. Attach to barbed tube interface to route the exhaust out of the box.

  3. Chemical compatibility, but this isn’t a huge issue for common printable materials.

Relevant Interfaces:

  1. The top hole needs tapping to attach to a 1/4” NPT barbed fitting, but air flows out the top of the filter and through the tubing.

  2. The four tabs on flexible edges connect into the existing outlet interface on the filter, providing a surprisingly secure and sturdy connection.
